Most Unusual Effigy


"With its idiosyncratic features and armour of no single date the most likely pre-Dissolution context for this effigy is the early 16th century, when a number of religious houses were putting up retrospective monuments to their founders, sometimes incorporating deliberately old-fashioned features."
